Nov. 5 - 1st Saturday - Dance @ Vinnie's Jump & Jive

Every first Saturday of the month, Vinnie's Jump & Jive has their monthly dance. Located at 424 Main Street in Middletown, people come from all around (NY, RI, MA, NJ) to jump, jive and wail on Vinnie's smooth as a "spanked baby's" wood floor. There is a dance this Saturday, November 5th.

Vinnie's is the home base for the Full Crew. It's where we all started taking lessons with Mary, and grew into the awesome swing dance leaders and followers we are today. People gasp and sign in awe and amazement as they witness our fluid moves and righteous swingouts!

7:30 - 8:30 PM Basic Swing dance lesson for beginners
8:30 -11:30 PM Dance

Admission
$5 for the dance or $10 for the lesson plus the dance; full-time students receive a $2 discount.

You don't need a partner for the lesson or the dance, but please bring clean shoes to change into before you dance.

Wed 11/2 Clumsy Lovers @ Half Door in Hartford, CT

I absolutely LOVE this band out of Vancouver: The Clumsy Lovers. I even have a t-shirt. These people are no joke.

The first time I saw them, I was out with my friend Tom and my cousin Suzy. We just stumbled into Half Door on a spontaneous Friday night out for a fine draft. We had no clue if there was a band and we were blessed by the music gods: Clumsy Lovers were in da house. The five member band have a banjo player who was #1 in Canada as a teenager and the lady plays one of the meanest fiddles around. The lead singer is pretty darn cute.

The first song, we were dancing. By the third, we had gotten the tambourine. By song #7 we were on stage with the band. It was awesome. Their music is a fusion of folk, rockabilly, blues, ska, country and je ne sais quoi. The only thing you know is that it translates directly to your feet as...DANCE, mofo!

I'm very excited that they are coming to Hartford again and hope you will join me tomorrow at Half Door!
